Default D15b vtec or B18b

Hey guys, I don't think this is a fair comparison, but it's the only 2 engines with auto tranny that are within my price range.
I need a new engine and tranny for my 95 EJ2 DX. Which one is worth the money? I don't plan on doing any future mods to my vehicle. I just need another engine and auto tranny with slightly more power than the stock D15b7 and yet still reliable. But I'm not sure whether the total cost of the B18b after installation will run a lot higher due to the fact that the swap requires more parts like axles and mounts and probably other parts that I'm not aware of. Secondly are the parts interchangeable between the JDM B18b and the USDM B18b1?

D15b vtec with auto tranny
- Should be an easy installation into a EJ2, but probably requires more time for wiring due to the VTEC.
- I can strip off parts from my old D15b7 and use them on the D15b if I need to.
- low end isn't as good as the B18b though.

B18b non-vtec with auto tranny
- May cost more due to the extra parts like axles and mounts.
- don't know if I have to change to Air conditioner or radiator as well (don't think so)
-Don't know whether parts are interchangeable between USDM B18b1 and JDM so replacement parts may be hard to find.
- better low end power.

Anyone have any information regarding the main difference and the possible problems that I may encounter during the install for each?

B18b would be nicer, that's why I'm going with that over my d16z6.

D15b would get better gas mileage (slightly), but the lower end torque would pay off in the end if you got the b18b.

But to help you out... all b series parts are interchangable as well as d-series of the same years.

I would stick with USDM too if money is an issue since the parts can be pulled from a local yard if you need to replace it, rather then special ordering jdm parts for that engine just in case.

Yeah, you're right. I did consider that factor, which is why I'm wondering if the B18b and the B18b1 are entirely interchangeable. I would like to stick with a USDM engine but the ones I found in the Junkyard had over 150k miles. For the price, I can get a b18b, auto tranny and ECU for around 800. The only thing I'm worried about is when the mechanic goes to install the engine/tranny and stumbles upon some unforeseen problems. More problems = more money so I want to know exactly what I'm dealing with before I proceed.
