timing light Q read please
so i have been doing some more searching around and from what i have herd. poeple say to connect the check engine light jumper while your adjusting the timing. why do you have to do this whats it for? thank you for looking..
this guy is correct....jumper out cel connector under the radio...start car and let warm up until the cooling fan cycles twice, connect timing light ,pull the rubber plug on the transmission exposing the timing marks on the flywheel, turn the distributor until you line up the pointer with the mark on the flywheel. remove jumper and restart the car and roll out.
ok when you say restart the car you mean turn off and back on? or restart the ecu...? another dumb question cyc#1 is on the passanger side or driver side.
as for the timing mark there is a meat plate on the flywheel thats has 15 with a line right in the middle of the 4 inch meat peace. to the right of that (looking down at it ofcourse) there is another peace looks like this > then a little bit under that a pointer < i have to get the pointer in the middle of the V type screw looking thing right to match the 15 degree mark? just making sure i do this right o.O

restart the car itself.
cylinder 1 is always closest to the timing belt (considered by many as the front of the engine). Its the cylinder furthest to the driverside.
