your best bet, if its not too damaged, is to sand it with some 1000 or 1200 wet and reclear.

no not damaged, the previous owner sprayed clear coat on the hood with a spray can, and it looks bad, so im lookin to sand that off, and polish it up and buff it and give it a good wax

im just lookin for what steps of sanding to get the clear off, and sand it out smooth and then buff it

like what you said, start with 1000 then 1200, is 1000 rough? or real smooth, im a tard with sand paper and this stuff

okay..... I would sand off the spray can clear with the 1200. If thats taking to long you can go with 1000 or even 800.( the higher the number the finer) Then you want to go over it with 1500 or 2000 I usually buff on 1500 but for the real expensive jobs I go over the 1500 with 2000 before I buff it out. you will need a power buffer 1500-2500 rpms. You cant buff with your hand.

wet sanding gives you a cleaner finish. 400 is too low, You could use the 800 to start.

well i got to it today, all came out pretty good

the clear was pretty thick, i wetsanded all, i started with a quick 600, then a little longer with 800, then 1000, but when i got to 1000 it started to kinda get tough to push, it was weird, i used alot of water, but i continued, with 1000 then 1500 then 2000

it came out pretty good, real smooth, but theres a few spots that kinda looks like i missed maybe, or there still somthing there, i can feel it a little when i run my hand over it

should i go back and resand or should i try to buff it and see how it goes

id take some pics but we-todd-did-racing.com is down for some reason so i cant upload pics
