Sway bar thickness question/inquiry on an EG
Currently driving a 95 EG 4dr on
Tein basic coilovers
Skunk2 front and rear strut bars
Skunk2 LCA
Skunk2 rear lower tie bar
My question is that I want to beef up my suspension and have been looking into getting a sway bar/brace combo. My knowledge on how sway bars work is not up to par so I just wanted a brief rundown of what the different thicknesses mean I've noticed they range from 21mm to 32mm. Is bigger better?
Thanks

Anything close to a 32mm hollow sway bar is overkill for your car. For a daily driver, anywhere from 19mm-22mm is good. For a semi-track/daily, I would recommend 23-26mm.
Bigger is not necessarily better. You have to get the correct front and rear sway bar combo to match the spring rates of your coilovers.

keep in mind i am talking about 2000-3000lb fwd cars.
what experience do you have with other rear sway bars?

dont get it. i would start with a regular integra rear sway bar first and get a feel for it. they can be picked up for less than $40 usually, also you will need to pick up new rear lower control arms that can support the endlinks for a rear bar. so depending on how much $ you have, you can start out small and see how you like it, then if you decide to go bigger the 22-23-24 mm bars will make you happy.
i have a 22mm bar and it was more than what i needed. i currently have the 13mm stock bar on my car for h-stock but when i go back to sts i will definitily put the 22mm bar on.
fyi, i race the the same car i drive to work everyday.

if you are racing i would say 24-26/22-24mm f/r
if you will never take your car to a sanctioned event, then whatever for the front and 13-14mm rear.
it doesnt matter how much of a weiner you are when you drive, you will never take your car to the limit like you do at a sanctioned event.

Well I have a 1994 Civic sedan and am using Tein Basic coilovers also. I decided to go with the ITR 22mm sway bar + ASR subframe combination and I love it. The difference is noticeable, and it's not overkill for daily driving. It is just right and fairly priced. I ordered mine from JHPUSA.com by the way. $204.44 shipped to Virginia
i have a 95 4drs EG too but it comes with front and rear sway bars stock.. iwant to upgrade..it's my DD but with a b18 swap..anyway, does anyone know the size of the stock sways?? front and rear..
i was looking at the ST sway bars kit (f+r) from ebay..front = 25mm .....rear = 19mm..that's about 600$..300+ for ST sways kit + 200+ for ASR sub frame..since i keep reading that aftermarket bar with tear the frame..

Ok well I got the 24mm asr sway bar and brace, didnt realize I wouldnt be able to use my skunk2 lower tie bar anymore so I sold it to my boy.
Anyways, I love how tight the tail end feels during turns but the front feels loose. My car didnt come with a front sway bar. Any suggestions on what would go well with my setup?

i dont know why i thought the 4drs had a front bar though...

hey guys i just upgrade my 92 civic 4dr all my four brake disc, arms, etc. from a 96 integra donor, with auto b18b1 engine.
i dont know if it was rs,ls or gs. but how do i know the Sway bar thickness??
i inspect the bushings and front has 22mm number on it so i assume thats the thickness ,but rear has just a number 14 on it..
i'm confused because all of you said gsr only has 14mm on rear ??
13mm rear sway bar must have the number 13 on it??
can you check yours please

your lcas will hold up fine with any rear bar.
