i have a 94' honda accord ex. i recently got into an accident and cracked my radiator and bent my support. i bought a new radiator. but before i buy a radiator support i want to know if its welded on or bolted on?

 

you could find out pretty easily if you open your eyes and look at it

 

welded.. they are easy to replace..


u can even bolt the new one on if worst comes to worst.

 

Its not that bad to replace, just be sure to locate all your spot welds and buy your self one of these bits. Also be sure to keep the bit and drilling area lubed up with wd-40. Just drill enuff to crack the spot weld loose, although you will drill all the way thru on a few, buts it a learning curve. After that grind down ur spot welds and weld the new one on.

I took the suppoer off my CRX and went through about a dozen of those bits. Seemed like the spot welds were multipying as a started removing them!

 

really?? i used one bit and got 3 supports off...haha are u lubbing them??

I have done thousands of spot welds with the same set? what are you guys doing? make sure you get the proper squared out measurments for the support so everything lines up.

 

that spot weld cutter is crap IMO. I hate them, then still after cutting them you have to grind the nuggets down before welding. Just makes a extra step. Plus drilling a pilot hole, and that stupid needle always gets stuck....to hell with them. Ill take my Matco bit (pn TH77775 i believe for the set...could be wrong) over that garbage anyday.

For 5 bucks, you cant beat that...you just have to know how to work with them....Your going to have to grind down the spot welds anyways with any spotweld bit you use....unless you drill it out completely... only took me 30 mins to pull a rad support out, thats including punching a pilot hole...

unless your doing this for a living....to me its not worth spending alot of money for something you will only use once..

 

I totally agree with swappedcx. The Matco set is amazing for cutting out spot welds. Seriously just spend the money for the matco and you won't be sorry. I Have done 2 sets of quarter panels and 2 radiator supports and my first bit is still perfect.
