Default Ever had rear discs cause a shake?

So I'm usually pretty good at getting rid of shakes, but this time I'm stumped.

I don't get a shimmy so much in the steering wheel, but the whole car feels like it's gallopping or something at around 125kph.

Wheels are all true and balanced and hubcentric and free of ice, etc.. Seems to do the same thing regardless of wheels on the car. Will check again.
New front rotors.
New front axles.
New front bearings.
Ball joints all tight.
New tint.

The only thing left really is the rear discs.

This is really irritating. It seems like once a car gets a shake, it's like that forever LOL.

Anyone heard of rear discs causing a shake, say if they were warped? I checked the temp after driving with them on the highway for a while, and they were still pretty cool.

Ideas?!!

Thanks!

Holy gigantic pics.

Anyway, even if the rears were warped, you'd only feel it when braking. Did it start before the new axles or after?

Could be the tint, too...

Hey, yeah, I removed the one pic...too big!

It happened before the axles and even before the winter tires too I believe.

I think I have to keep trying new wheels.

Thing is, if the belt was shifted, you'd normally feel it even at low speeds, kind of a bump bump bump...I've had that happen before.

Thanks,

Quick way to check if the discs are warped (which will cause the shake especially at high speeds):
Front - if you have a "pulsating" pedal and steering wheel shimmy while braking.
Rear - Get up to about 40-50 mph coast while holding up the hand brake (Don't just suddenly jerk it like you're trying to stop, lol. You're trying to isolate the rear brakes by doing this)

just a thought, you probably did this already

jack up the front of the car.
grab the tire with your hands on the 3 and 9 o clock positions
shake left and right, (as if your trying to make a left and right turn) you should not have play
if you do check inner and outter tie rods.

im not sure what you mean by "gallopping" but my car used to feel like it was swaying left and right at high speeds, replaced a tie rod and it went away.

good luck

Swap positions between front wheels and rear wheels. If the shaking follow the rear wheels to the front, the fault is in one of the rear wheel (which is now in the front)

Thanks guys, I'm definately going to explore the tires a bit more.

I've got a set of Toyo Garrit HT, and already one of them has a shifted belt. I replaced it with a spare. I wonder if another has suffered the same demise.

I've got a pair of CW rims with other tires on I'm going to try this week.

Thanks again,
Eric
