My Baby Crapped Out On Me
So I was coming home late at night, my car (93 EJ1) ran awesome like it allways does, no problems what so ever. So im cruising on the highway, about to get off at my exits, and out of nowhere I feel a power loss, my rpms fall, and my car dies out. So I roll into the exit in neutral with my car off. Get about half way onto the ramp, pull over and crank it. It starts, idles for 2 seconds and dies agen. I keep cranking, but it doesnt start. I crank it and give it a little gas, but as soon as I let go of the gas, my baby dies. So there I am, so close to home, but no way to get there. I let the car stand for a little while, crank it agen and bam starts up but then dies, and its all over agen. I checked the spark plug wires, dizy, any bad connection (that i can see) everything seems to be in order. I turn the ignition on and off to listen to the fuel pump noise, but it doesnt make one. I think thats what might have crapped out on me. What ever, called my Dad, he pushed me with his car all the way home. Gonna try and see what was the problem. Anyone have any clue?? Pretty happy that my baby made it close to home with its last breath.
When you turn the key to on and off do you hear a clicking sound? From what you are describing from you story it seems like your distributor went bad. Check to see if you have spark and fuel.
Ok... so you should hear a small click right after you turn the key to accessories mode on your ignition. If you do not hear the small click. Then you should probably check your fuel management circuit board. I'm not really sure if thats the real name for it. But it should be located right next to your fuse box under the dash. I've had this happen to me once a while back, and there was a break in the curcuit. So I was getting not fuel to the motor. Freaking car started for a few seconds and died. Not sure if this is your exact problem. But you should probably check anyways. Good Luck!! and keep us posted.
check for spark first, if u got spark then dizzy is good. then pull up the seat and have someone turn the key on and off to the accesory position while u listen for the pump, if the pump turns on change the main relay.

Ok I fixed it... B18bEG6ick and jhammond_82 you were right, that damned distributor. One of the contacts had like a burn off, so when i opened it up cleaned it up, and it started like a baby. Wohoooo
