Default I'm sure this is covered but any info on Xenocron Tuning products and software?

I've found a bit of info searching in civic/integra forums but I'm still unsure how this sytem compares to hondata systems that are 600+ dollers (w/tunable ecu)?

So with Xenocron Chip Kit, you get everything you need to tune your p72/p28 (in my particular case) except the software? Ie. Chrome, hondata (s300/200/100 etc.), Neptune? So all you need to do is download lets say chrome (I believe its free?) software and you can tune your ecu in real time with datalogging?

Am I missing something? How is the Xenocron systems only around 250 dollers?
If possible, could it be compared to hondata lets say, for I have some understanding of its equipment/software.

Also while on topic of tuning, each tuning software will allow my stock map sensor to be used up untill around 11 psi correct?

Thanks in advance.

xenocron does not make his own tuning software. He is an authorized dealer of CROME PRO, and the other systems you see listed and he offers a tuning package that is made by moates that allows you to do any tuning you will need with Crome (ostrich, hulog, burn1...etc).

All the chip kit does is get the ECU ready to run off of a chip. You then buy the software (crome pro) or software/hardware (ectune, hondata, neptune) that actually goes on the chip. Acutally, the software/hardware systems plug a chip emulator into the spot the chip would go, so they can make real-time changes to the tune.

Yes, you can tune with crome for free, but without the native datalogging it can be a real pain.

Personally, I'm happy with ectune. It uses the ostrich for hardware, which is a standard emulator, not like the proprietary systems of hondata and neptune (although I hear neptune may be allowing ostrich use in the future).

Tuning your car yourself correctly is not a cheap proposition, expect to spend at least $600 for the ECU, chipping, software, datalog cable, and wideband, if you want to use crome pro. Add $100-200 on top of that for hondata/ectune/neptune.

neptune - 400 and comes with everything needed to use it.
bluetooth option 100

Crome - no live tuning or logging as mentioned. Must resort to changing the map and reburning the chip to see results. PITA

Crome Pro - 150
ostrich - 185
hulog - 30
burn1 (if you dont want to run the ostrich 24/7) - 85
extra eeproms - 3 or so a piece

Most shops with dynos should be able to tune with above mentioned systems, so all you really need is the chipped ecu ($175-$250) and your tuner will take care of the rest. That way it might get cheaper then buying all the stuff and learning how to tune it with it. Don't forget one little mistake and there goes your motor.

True but learning how to do it yourself sounds so much better
