Is it bad to get Tranny wet while its off block?
While my motor is out getting built I wanted to shine up engine bay and transmission so it all looks like new when I get the motor back...is it bad to get the tranny wet when its not bolted to the block?
No problem. Just make sure you don't get water inside the tranny and dry off the release bearing. Break out the Simple Green!
P.S. grease the shaft a little after.

Don't waste your time with simplegreen on the trans, get your self a stiff nylon brush and eagleone Etching Mag Cleaner, Worked just fine. Just don't let it dry on the Al case and be sure to rinse it well.
sounds good. I'll get to scrubing. Im trying to sand blast all the rusty bolts and brackets in the engine bay. Its near impossible to make it look like new again

I have never used Eastwood, But I have a bunch of plating materials from these guys:
http://www.caswellplating.com/kits/index.html
great products, full kits, for any application. Many of the plating products do not require electroplating and they hold up great.
very inexpensive and they have plating for stainless, blackening. Looks to be about the same price...
