the car is a 93, but it has a 1.6 vtech from a 99 civic (d16 series motor ), not sure which model but the 6th diget is a 8 on the vin .

let me just say im on a budget , and want to get the car on the road. I can get a 1.6 vetch -E from a old friend 4 dirt cheap , what would i have to do to make this work with my current ecu and wireing and vacum etc....

Any one want to recomend any sites were i could get a good engine for a good price.

Ive been getting qoutes for a d16 exactly like mine between 800-1000$ , and i dont think is worth it.

would it be much more expensive to swap in a b16 or b18 swap? can i pull it off for not to much more cash ?

 

look on craiglist.com, a d16z6 will also work. you have a d16y8. but you will need the d16z6 distributor, those motors go for like 300. if u come to philly ill sell u one for 300

kool, So will i have to swap fuel rails or anything else? any wiring at all to make the d16z6 fit ?

and my friends motor is a d16 ( 7 is the last #) ) whats diffrent on that ?

 

you may have to change diatributor plugs, all your other parts will work, u just need the head the block and the distributor. your freinds is a d16y7, he has no vtec, you do

 

sweet, thats no prob, i just didnt want to deal ith switching ecu's and wireing and etc.

 

your wireing, ecu and full intake manifold will work, includeing injectors and fuel rail

First and foremost, it's VTEC not VTECH, which is a phone. If your going to spend around $1k or so, might as well save a little more and go with a jdm b16a swap. The most inexpensive b-series vtec motor swap, compared to the gsr, ctr, and itr swap.

 

what worries me is I have no idea what kinda of ecu the car has, odb1 or odb 11?
( i bought it swapped )

the guy i bought it from said it has a ecu from a 2002 but who knows.

Will I be good either way if i drop in a d16z6 ?
