Default Radiator Fan Switch...

Ok so after doing a DOHC ZC swap... and spending to much time hunting for the plug and it not being found... i'm going to wire the fan to a switch in the cabin.

Anyone have links to a write up or pictures? I'm mostly concerned with which wires from the fan need to get wired up. thanks for the help in advance.

dont wire it up to a switch.. unless you have some reason to want to do that. the plug is easy to find, as someone already mentioned the location.

I have a switch wired up in my car because of a previous owner, and it is rather annoying because sometimes the fan fails, and i have to figure out if the fan is bad, or the creative wiring.

All i have to say is that if you do it, splice the switch into the existing power line, and then just bypass the thermo plug on the block. that way, you can turn your fan on and off, and you can leave it running when the car is turned off. either way its probably going to be a PITA..

well i was thinking about just wiring straight off the fan. If i can figure it out, i might hook the fan into the ignition so it runs every time the car is on... i need to get to and from work, without worry about it overheating.

I'd love to find the plugs and just hook it all back up, but i can seem to find any of the plugs on the harness. i've been crawling all over the engine bay looking for it.

I'm fairly confident i can wire up stuff lol... i just dont want to start hacking on the wires without some kind of idea or some insight. everything but the wires going onto the switch will be hard wired... no crimps for me.

here is a diagram to where the fan switch is. its #22 in this pic.
costs about $30. fairly easy to replace. just remember to bleed the coolant system after you finish. to double check that its the fan switch thats your problem, all you have to do is take the 2 wires off the switch on the back of the block and with the key switch in the on position connect the two wires. the fan should come on. if it doesnt then the switch might not be your problem. could also be a relay or fuse. hope this helps.

that two pin sensor doesnt exist on the DOHC that i have in the car. there is that single pin that is plugged in, and i found the two wires that would plug into that two pin set up... just no sensor not even a place for one on my block.

if you dont have one on the back of the block its at the thermostat housing. if its still not there someone used a obd0 housing on that block. you just then need to get a obd1 housing with the new thermo switch
