what is idle (noob at manual)
dude, you have hella questions, how about making one post with general questions or do a more broader search of the components of an engine, and how they work.
howthingswork.com has great stuff on engines and DOHC VTEC.
the idle function has to do with where the rpm gauge needle sits when the engine is on, the gas pedal is not pushed or you are in neutral. (assuming your tachometer works correctly)
idling, your integra should be around 800rpm. to warm up your car it may be higher than for a brief period of time if you are starting in cold weather.

Under no load conditions your idle speed should NOT be at 1,000 RPM or more unless you are in the warm up period or something is wrong with your car. Here's a clip from the Acura Service Manual

Under conditions when your heater fan is on HI and the air conditioner on, your idle should float within the 800-900 RPM range.
