hey guys im about to buy a honda del sol with 168k on it. i was wondering if the engine is gonna break down anytime soon. i tend to smash and downshift but i dont redline. do you think that the engine will last me another 1-2 years?

 

It depends on how much you will be driving it, how much its been through, and what it needs done to it...

that's an impossible question to answer.

It all depends on how the car has been treated before. Basically, if the oil changes were done on time and 100k tune up was done, the car should run for a LOONG *** time.

I used to have a GSR that I drove like 500-1000 miles a week. It had 158k on it, and drove like it was a brand new car. It was still quick, pulled all the way to 8200, still got 30mpg, everything worked, looked great etc. I was even contemplating road racing it. The only reason I didn't is because my other car is too much fun lol.

If the car drives and feels like it was well taken care of, then it's generally gonna be good to go. Honda has a reputation for reliability..and that doesn't come from nowhere. It's common to see 200-300k plus cars now a days.

What do you mean "smash and downshift"? Smash what?

 

its a honda hell yeah igot 225k on my coupe

 

do a compression test and leak down to see if the motor is still healthy

Thats just broke in. My 90 hatch ran great for 386k miles. I held the motor on redline for 47 seconds before it finally sezied. And I put another motor in and ran it on the track for a long time. H-POWER FTW

 

about 230k on my stock 90 crx

 

I had 230k on my stock 88 crx si when i sold it. It still ran strong. GL with the purchase

 

I got 274K miles on my original z6
