Different setups internally, same concept --> 1.5L VTEC SOHC. Rotating assembly is different though producing different characteristics.

Its all in the same ballpark, with what you are asking, the best combo would probably be the one that costs you the least amount of money to do.

They will all net around the same power, but as the good Dr. already said, they will also have different characteristics...ie...power band, torque curves, etc....

Why do you have to wire for 0BD2?

Just save some $ and look around on http://rywire.com

That site will have a plug and play kit for anything you want to do.

Is it worth it? Of course, it's a great learning experience.

If you already have a y7/y8 combo put together and laying around then thats what you should put in your car... Taking your vtec head off a 1.6 bottom end and putting it on a 1.5 bottom end is blasphemy. I would put the existing setup right in. buy the rywire obd0-obd1 jumper harness, a p28 ecu, and 4 wire 02 sensor your car and your engine will then both be in obd1 bliss. When you get a little bored with it down the road you could throw your stock d15 pistons (flat tops)in your mini me motor to up the compression a bit for a few more hp.
