To make it easy, it's not really worth all the problems just for a real deal "jdm" car. If you want one, look through the market place. Some people have some legit stuff for sale. It cuts your time in half and saves you all the hassle with the CHP and DMV.
yeah bro i found out how much it was ging to cost me to have a real rhd ek hatch and it was to expensive for one to bring over and two when i looked into it chp told me that it has to go through a full inspection meaning.....all the glass on th car has to be changed because it doesnt have that film on it that ours have when you get in a accident and it doesnt shatter. then they said that some cars dont have reinforcement bars in the front/rear/ and in doors. now thats what chp told me.
with that all smog componets have to be changed and added to car with all that ive talked to people where its cost them 5 to 10 grand just to register them.
no all this info was given to me by other people at dmv, chp, and others that have tried to get cars registered so im not making anything up
at end it just takes to much just to ay its real but if you already got it then might as well try i just got mine converted over and cost me 2 grand with a full firewall swap. since the car was already registered and obviously is a u.s. car there are no specail registration details to go through the only thing that hp wanted to see is that the car wasnt cut in half to make right hand for safty purposes. once they seen that they stamp my vin on the other side of the dash for me and i was on my way so my hatch may not be real but no big deal and i only spent 2 grand.
hope you work it out it would be great

you can't just swap VIN's. Not only is that VERY illegal, but non-us cars don't have Vehicle Identification Numbers to begin with..
