rear main seal question..
i just removed my tranny for the 2nd time with in 2 months cuz of an oil like and i didnt put sealant around the seal... should i put sealant around it.. cuz i know the crank turns and if i put sealant it will just brake but should i put it around the outside of the seal?? and theres a bolt on the block should i tighting it and i think there's another seal behind the rear main seal.. sorry if u can understand im tryin to type fast cuz i want to finish tonight.!
here's a pic of the seal i put gasket sealant around the outside of the gasket but not around the crank.... bad idea?? and that bolt to the uper left i was just checking to see if it was lose and u got a pair of vise grips and clemp it down and turned it left and it was lose.... so i tighting it as hard as i can but the vise grips just slip off hopyfully its tight enough cuz i dont got a allen wrench for it.. btw what size allen is it??

Dont put any kind of sealant on or in the rear main seal itself, just use honda-bond or the gasket that came with it to seal metal casing that bolts to the block.
Like i said the seal was new replaced it like 2 months ago and just making sure it wasnt it cuz my car still was leaking oil. and i already put the sealant on the gasket should i just remove it again and take off the sealant?

dont use vise grips for christs sake, get the right tool. and look up torque specs, dont "tighten it as hard as you can" i mean if you want to do it right just keep tightening it until the bolt turns easy.

well the bolt was lose before i even started to tigthen it so i figured ill just tight it with the vise grips...... do u even know what tool that is?? and i pretty sure the specs on that big *** bolt is like 80-90 ft/lbs.... alot of pressure dude.. but i will look up the specs and get the tool. but i think the vise grips did the job..
Im mainly conserned with the rear main seal cuz i aready put sealant last night and was hoping that it wouldnt hurt it...
