Default error code 43... need help?

i drive a 93 eg dx. my cel is on so i jumped the plug to find code 43. which is the fuel supply system. that might explain why my air/fuel gauge says im runnin way to lean and it drives slow as hell. could be a clogged fuel filter which i could change or the fuel pump goin out. does anyone else have any ideas? i appreciate anyone's input on what else i can check

Sounds like anything fuel related. Could be bad pump, clogged filter, or even clogged injectors. Try running some injector cleaner thru ur cars system when you change the filter and see where that gets you. OEM fuel pumps, unless tampered with, rarely go out.

i replaced the fuel filter and put in some injector cleaner. it still drives a bit sluggish but not as much as before. everything else seemed normal up until about 15 min after test driving then my air/fuel ratio gauge starts sayin im running really lean again (18.7-19.5). my cel didnt come on. but i jumped the ecu plug and still showin a code 43. maybe the filter was a problem and maybe i just have to drive it around for a while longer so the ecu can slowly adapt to a change to fix the problem. it is a learning computer. what does anyone think???

Usually injector cleaner will take a tank of gas before your car runs right again. Drive it allot, then refill it again, and see if it gets progressively better.

I just have had this problem although mine threw a 43, 10, 7 together. They're all soft so they go off and come on. However, look at the vacuum line that goes to the fpr on the fuel rail, this delayed my code 43 for a while, but since i fixed my tps it hasnt came back yet. The vac. line could be your problem though.

well its been almost a week and my cel hasnt come on yet. but the car still runs slow as ****. jumped the plug again and still showing a 43. the acceleration really sucks. it does run a lil bit better since i changed out a dirty fuel filter and kept the tank filled w/ injector cleaner. but still runs slow almost as if you're turning back the dizzy to retard the timing. except i advanced the timing and no luck. any ideas?

My friend had the 43 once, and said the o2 was the cause.

my air/fuel gauge is hooked up to my o2 and when my problem was worse it would eventually lean out and the cel would come on. but it hasnt done that anymore since i changed the filter. the cel never comes on and the air/fuel ratio stays steady around 14.5, a decent stoich level. usually when most people's o2 sensor's start going bad, their motor doesn't act up like that, although gas mileage may suffer for them. for me it's different. gas mileage is the same. im running about right. just sluggish like i pulled the dizzy back all the way retarded
