92 Acc no start with spark, need a hand
My bosses 92 accord with about 200k has been having an intermitent no start issue here for a month or so, and I'm trying to help him out. I had one of these years ago, and had a similar problem where I replaced the main relay, but if memory serves his specifics are different. I haven;t been able to put my hands on it myself when its acting up, but he said it took him about an hour of cranking tonight to get it to finally start. He pulled spark plug out and found spark when the engine cranked, so the coil and dist would be good to go. If I remember right a bad main relay would prevent spark, right?, or am I wrong. The frustrating thing here is that every time I show up to give him a hand, the thing starts like a charm, and I don't just wanna throw random parts at it. Any gurus here that can guide me towards a common problem? Thanks.
If you are sure that you are getting spark I would be suspicious of the fuel pump relay. I am not sure where it is on a '92 though.
hows the starter??? I dont know all the specifics of the CB7 but I do remember of hearing a issue with inginiton besides the main relay on those modles...
2nd on the fuel pump relay. Those have intermittent problems. I believe its located in the drivers side left kick panel, its a little black box. I would swap that out if your sure its not getting fuel but getting spark and the engine is turning over with good power.
most likely main relay, tell him next time it acts up to see if the check engine light comes on for two seconds when you turn the key to the on position and then goes off you should also hear a click
