clutch noise when "slipping" the clutch
my car has 45k on it now n i noticed that when im in traffic n im slipping the clutch to take off from a stop that it makes a weird howling noise.. almost sounds like i have a copper puck clutch in the car. it feels good tho. no slipping or signs of wear other than the noise. i do sit in alot of stop n go traffic on the way home from work for about an hr everyday so im sure that played a role in whatever it is.. (u think i should take it to a dealer? i think im out of warranty n even if im in still idk if they cover this?)
when do you think the clutch will wear out to the point of needing replacement?
i'm at 40K miles. I drive it relatively hard, but not too many take-offs from a dead stop. I don't ride the clutch ..
and how much will it be to replace including labor?
thanks

it never hurts to ask

I must express that my mom had this car for the first 130k or so miles of it's life, so it was completely babied and the never run to its full potential until I bought it from her. I too know how to drive a manual car, but 198k is a lot on an original clutch. I am just saying, it is rare to see them last that long so most won't. But, 40k is way too soon to be replacing a clutch, IMO.
