overheating problem after swap
ok so i got my car swapped and now it overheats. it will only do it sometimes...there is no antifreeze in the oil...its not leaking...and the thermostat is new...and the fan will turn on. i cannot figure out why it keeps overheating. anyone have any ideas before i take it to honda?
Bleed your coolant system of all the air. Air in the coolant hoes's will cause overheating. I also would check your headgasket, are you having a lot of smoke come out of the exhaust?
oh yeah...i already bled the system (like 4 times) and i didnt think it was the headgasket because there was no antifreeze in the oil...and i know that is a big sign you have a blown headgasket. but yeah i kinda do have alot of white smoke but i cant tell if its from antifreeze/overheating problem or where im running rich..was running a d16z6 and p28 ecu with a 1 wire o2...then switched to a 4 wire but its disconnected right now. so i know its running very rich. just cant tell but you can smell antifreeze inside the car and sometimes behind it.
Yeah, your headgasket is prolly blown, and or you have coolant leak. Another posibility could be that you have your coolant lines hookedup wrong. The large amounts of smoke is caused by antifreze getting into the combustion chamber then burning off releasing a white sweet smeeling smoke. When you take your head off to replace the head gasket, have your head milled at a local machine shop for $20-$40. It'll be worth it in the long run. BTW buy a OEM Honda Headgasket, People swear by (Autozone/Advanced) brand gaskets, keep it safe, go OEM
how could i have the coolant lines hooked up wrong? and im not leaking antifreeze anywhere so idk. but i think i will check the head gasket. pullin a honda head is not that hard. lol never done it...but looks pretty easy. could i maybe have a warped head?
i sure hope not cuz that will be an expensive fix im sure.

If your head is warped, goto a machine shop and have it milled down. Its cheap. Doing a headgasket replacment is easy. Checkup in the faq's for a DIY. Check the Mini-me swap guides. They usally have the head replacment DIY's in there
yeah ill probably take the head off when i get some time and see what the headgasket looks like. i hope its nothing to major...replacing the headgasket wont be too hard. im hopin my head is not warped.
