Default low oil pressure

i've been in Iraq for the past 5 months and get back to a car with the oil light on.

the oil is at a good level, and recently changed, the light is on but kind of dim.. my best guess is that the rod bearings are going and i'll need to rebuild it. i'm also on another train of thought that it could be the oil pump, but is it possible for the oil pump to just be half assing it's job? i'm kinda stumped..

The only way to know for sure is to check out the sending unit and it's wiring, and to actually do a test of the oil pressure with a real gauge.
