Default Swap

I want to swap out my slow d15b7 for something with some more power, or at least some vtec. I wanted to know what would be a good swap for a good price, I have the equipment to do it myself I just need a good motor. So any suggestions on a reliable motor that has more power than a d15b7 that isn't to pricey i dont want to spend more than 1,000. Let me know

a d16 z6 or y8 swap will probably be your best bet... possibly a LS swap depending on what kind of prices you find.

EDIT: sorry forgot you want VTEC so LS wouldnt be part of that... it had the most torque and HP of the choices, and if you ever wanted to boost later on its a great platform. SOHC vtec isnt anything to get excited over fyi... more just a title.

LS swap is a good swap how mush do they usually go for? And how much power do they put out?

a stock LS swap makes 142HP and 127 ft/lbs of torque.
a stock d16 makes 125HP (z6) and 127HP(y8) and 112 ft/lbs of torque.

i think if you look around you should be able to find a LS swap for 800-1200 depending on miles and completeness.

Might as well go B-series. I'd go with the ls as well. You can fnd them for a decent price and the torque isn't bad. You really should look more into B-series if swapping anyway, unless you have future plans for a good ol' turbo D. Just my $.02
