A retrofit or just a plug and play kit?

Because plug and play is...plug and play. Plug the connectors in, put the bulbs in, tie down the ballasts somewhere where they won't get wet.

Wait second here... no one has even asked about the throw pattern?? You are putting in a bulb that puts out more light than your housing can handle. Someone at least throw up a pic of the beam pattern. You could be creating hot spots and blinding other drivers or asking for a ticket.

You could end up with something like this

Or you could have something like this

You may or not get pulled over. With HID as easy as it is to get, police have even started handing out tickets here. No matter what it is illegal, but at least don't give them a reason.

Here is a good thread I found with a simple search.

Believe me, I am a full supporter of HID retrofits. I have gone through a lot of money with halogens and an HID kit. There is nothing that compares to a retrofit in light distribution and safety for both the driver and other motorists.

But as HID becomes more and more popular, people don't want to spend the money on doing it right, are fooled by ads, or just want the color for as little money as possible.

I say time and time again, and very few people seem to care. I think i've given up on the battle

will take a picture tonight of the pattern of the hid lights on a 2008 civic si...

im sure it doesn't look like the 1st picture above but its not as bad of a pattern as what ever that car is...

and its not gonna look like the second picture because its not projectors...

but to me honestly retrofits are dumb because they to me are not oem....

i have never liked seening projectors on cars that don't have them (honda's civic)

They are far more oem than slapping a cheap 100 dollar HID kit into some halogens that weren't meant to handle the light output.

At least retrofitted projectors came equipped OEM on a car designed to have HID.

Well to each their own. I have a freind with integra.. he has himself convinced his HIDs look great in his factory projectors... but with all the hotspots it looks like ***.

If someone wants to just throw in HIDs into an OE housing... by all means do. But don't be surprised if someone complains in traffic, you get pulled over, or are ridiculed by others on a forum It is your car do what you want. I was just posting voicing my opinion. But me saying you are puting in more output than your housing can handle... is not really my opinion... but more of a fact. But you may put them in and they may look great.

http://www.customlightz.com/?p...l-sol

Here look at those and tell me what you think. I think that **** is pretty hot.

By all means take the pic... unless they look good everyone here is going to say put projectors in it. But seriously they may look good and I would like to see.

Those aren't retrofits

those are new replacement headlights.

retrofit: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Retrofit read the definition and then look at the pictures badboyr66 posted.

And to me HID kits in halogen housings scream "I don't understand automotive lighting and i'm too cheap to do it the right way, which is safer for me and everyone else." If they're some obnoxious color over 6k, it also says "I am more interested in looking good than actually being able to see at night."

I'm not really directing that at you, but that's what I think of kits in general. I had a kit on my car and i'd never do it again. Retro or halogen.

i put on an HID kit in an OE housing last week and they look great. Only thing is, for some reason the left side shows to be a little lower than the right. Anyone know how to adjust the headlights on an 06 civic si?
