Full Synthetic Oil Life?
I run Amsoil in my 06 si and was wondering if anyone goes longer between changes with the synthetic than the "oil life meter" says? I don't drive my car hard by any means.
Here's to everyone that replies
Thank you all.

Typically it is recommended to change your oil no later than 5K miles if you're running full synthetic. Depending on how you drive your car the oil life meter typically is on or around that scale of about 5K miles in between oil changes. You can change it sooner if you want of course. I run full synthetic and still change my oil every 3K miles regardless of what the oil life meter says. Doesn't hurt.
If you run your car past the "0%" mark on the oil life meter once in a blue moon, you more than likely won't have a problem. The meter will just begin to count negative mileage until it is reset. Just don't make it a habit or go to far beyond it because you might end up running into problems

It's just that I'm BROKE at the moment and I'm at 5% on the maintenance minder and don't want to cause any problems.
I've heard that you can send a sample of your Amsoil oil to Amsoil and they will do a free analysis of it? Anyone else heard that or done it?

I run full syn in my car and i have brought it below the limit on the meter.
when i changed the oil it was far from dirty and im sure had room for more miles in it... still i wouldnt push more than 5k on syn oil, or any oil.

im still on my break-in oil and have about 3500 miles.
the oil life meter reads 60%, probably going to be 50% in a couple hundred miles
at this rate, i can drive 7000+ miles without an oil change.
what exactly is barring me from doing so?
oil has come a long way.

I average around 6500 miles when my oil life is at 15%. The longest I had my oil in there was around 7500 miles.
I'd feel safe with dino for 5000 miles, but 3000 mile OCI on synthetic is just wasting money.

eh, most of the miles are highway.
but i do drive the car about 1.8 miles each morning to work. then 1.8 miles back.
so some very slight city driving does get done. and i'm having starter problems. :-/

probably 1/3 cold starts is chug chug chug chug chug vroom or a real hard hang and rumble start
was avoiding taking it in until i needed an oil change but its starting to get more and more common.
taking it next friday evening.

i dont think its the starter. i think its the battery. Honda put in some crappy batteries. Have you seen the cold start cranking amps on that battery ITS LOw.
Good think my car is stored for the winter but when it was getting down to the low 30's i had trouble starting my car too.
if its the starter the car wouldn't want to turn over.

could just be the battery. weird that it wouldn't be charging correctly considering i do a lot of good highway miles every other day or so.
you're probably right.
hopefully it won't be any problem to replace it under warranty.
