Lucas+Honda Motor=good/bad?
I just read a post on oil additives to a honda motor. my question is this, i have a b18a1 that runs very strong. I just hit 200,000 and boom! my oil pump went out! about 10,000 miles ago i put a lucas stabilizer treatment in it and it seemed fine. i change my oil every 2,000 miles with mobil 5000 5w30. I got the average bolt ons I/h/e exedy stg1, A.C.T prolite, etc. My DA never gave me any problems until this and i've had it 3 years. Should i consider an engine rebuild, before replacing the oil pump,(already purchased) or can i get away with putting the oil pump on for now?
how do you know the oil pump went out? if it did i would say a motor with 200k should be rebuilt. from what i have seen when anything oil related goes bad other parts go or lock up.
i did an oil pressure test. i recently replace my oil pressure sending unit (4 months ago) and i was just about to install an oil pressure guage, but then, this happened. And yes, i have asked around. most techs tell me that honda oil pumps dont usually go out like mine did. I'll have it removed soon(crank bolt, oil pan) so i will now exactly what happened.
