Hey - i would definitely look to an after market performance part (carbon drive shaft etc.) - that way, it may cost similar money, but at least you get a better part than stock. I'm in NZ, so can't help in the UK, but a cmpany i use here for parts have this one:

Apologies to the mods if we're not supposed to post links.
Also, they would probably ship to UK no problem as they source from Japan anyway - might be worth giving them a call - ask for Mac, and tell him Dave McCarthy sent you.
By the way $1300NZ converts to about 500 quid, plus a bit of shipping, and you should be laughing - they are also very good at giving advice, and generally give a bit of a discount to friends of friends.
Hope that helps.
Dave.

I put a request through to 41 for you, and they came back with the following:

Tell me - is it a drive shaft (either side of rear diff) or the propeller shaft (shaft that runs from gearbox to rear diff)

Spoon propeller shaft direct to the UK - $1440NZ (about 550 quid)
Spoon Drive Shaft (pair) direct to the UK - $1530NZ (about 580 quid)

Weight: 15kg for propeller shaft, 16kg for pair of Drive Shafts

I assume the shipping is the same for Belfast as UK, but should check.
