Can anyone explain why this would happen?

 

Improper installation, bad clutch, clutch fork not installed correctly, low tranny fluid? Will it get into gear when the car is off?

I think the tranny fluid may have something to do with it. We didnt drain it prior to dropping the trans, then imo all 2.5 quarts came out. We only put back 1.5 because we weren't 100% sure all of the fluid came out. Should we add more fluid and see what happens?

 

Check the fluid level and make sure its up to the correct level. Is it smooth going into reverse and unable to get into any other gear? Also, does the tranny shift into gear when the car is off?

 

it not the fluid because you can still shift it into gear even without mtl. Did you put the shift linkage in right?

 

I would refill the tranny and your shift linkage is probably too tight.
