Oil consumption issues...
ouch! i had to add 3 quarts(takes 4) to my car after only 900 miles, but thats my beater.
Figure out how many miles it takes to lose a quart. I was at about 1/2 quart low each fill up when i decided to refresh my B series, but i beat the hell out of that motor.

umm was your car cooled down? lol.. sounds to me like it was still warm.. it takes time for oil to settle back into the oil pan... just FYI incase u didnt know
ok i did quick google and came up with the ap1 service manual. heres the link for anybody who wants to download it. i guess a healthy engine should have about 225psi per cylinder. so i'll be doing a compression test on it tuesday and posting the results.
i'll probably do a "how-to" on the compression test, so that others can see how easy it is to do it.

yeah that isn't always the case, a leaking headgasket wouldn't smoke that noticably if any at all. (just an example)
it does sound like a leak somewhere though to be honest, thats a pretty substantial amount of oil to be missing without any adverse effects on power. but of course a compression check will help straighten some of it out.
good luck

Either way he would still be smoking sinse hes not I think hes fine when it comes to those two things. It wouldnt hurt to check but im sure his rings and seals are fine.

Which years would those early AP1s be?
