Anything short of a Retrofit is poo.

4300 K should be the ideal bulb to use for bright light, 6000 K max., anything over and you lose light intensity onto the road.

Then what you need to do is have some real HID headlights from another car retrofitted into your current headlight housings.

Save up for some retrofits. I did and now I will never go back to regular halogen bulbs. Best money I ever spent on my lude.

If you have 700-800 dollars for retrofits, get them. But there's only a select few who can afford an expensive headlight mod. I've had a good relationship with an ebay seller who sells HID kits at any temp(color) and bulb size for about 74 bucks. They also come with a one year warranty on the ballast and two years on the bulbs as long as there's no physical damage. I've owned 2 kits from the same seller, and have bought 5 kits total in the past 2 years. All 5 are still working perfectly.
Like mentioned before, If you want OEM white, get something around 5,000K.
If you want a more white/lightblue hue to it, get 6,000 OR 8,000
If you want a blue color get 10,000.
If you want purple( bad idea) get 12,000-30,000K ( these are for SHOW only as visibility will be horrible)

I've driven around with 10K for a good half a year now and I've never had a driver flash their lights at me or complain. I drive in Chicago and Champaign, two very different cities ( suburban and city) So you "SHOULD" be fine with getting an HID.

In IL they're not illegal. I know Cali cops will give you a problem and *I THINK* they've become illegal recently. Most states don't care though.

HID kit on stock headlights will emit more glare than normal, and a lot more glare than an HID projector retrofit, but again, it's the difference between spending 75 bucks or 600-800 bucks...it's your choice.

Anyways, here's where I get mine:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...:1123

For the bulb size check here. It's either 9006 for 4th gen, or H1's for 5th gens..

Good luck! Oh and don't worry...everyone does their own mods to their own taste. HID kits have always been a double side topic. Some will hate for having spoilers bigger than stock or mugen, others will hate for certain tail/headlights and some will hate HID kits. Do as you like dude

not all retrofits cost that much. You could always just do your own retrofit and save some money as well.

if you shop good enough you can do a retrofit for just under 400...i bought a cheap hid kit to use the ballasts ($100), some d2s headlights($50), d2s connectors($20), and fx45 bi-xenon projectors ($90) and some black housing clear lense civic headlights ($90) and made my own wiring harness and did the install myself...you just gotta shop around...i did this for my car and one for my friends del sol...both are fx45 projectors...the retrofit is actually pretty easy.
