rear drum brakes locked
OK, first of. I've been swapping the engine in my accord for a while. I ran into part troubles, had a kid, and changed jobs in the middle of all this. So the car has been sitting for a while. It's a 90 accord dx with rear drum brakes. I finally found the transmission clip I was looking for cranked it put it into gear and pull my locked rear tires for about 10 feet. I pull off the rear tire but it looked normal the brakes were just locked. I don't know anything about drum brakes and haven't had a chance to look through my shop manual yet. I was just wondering if anyone knows what the problem might be. TIA.
i would jack car and spin each rear tire to see if both wheels affected, or only one. this would be a clue whether the cable or one wheel mechanism.
sounds like a hanging emerg. brake.
long unused emerg brakes are reported to screwup. i don't know emerg. adj. procedure in honda.
doubt you need to adjust rear shoes for immediate problem.
i posted a tread a couple years ago about adjust. rear drums, and after my shoe adj. was no need to adj. my emerg brake as normal position returned.
not likely to be stuck outward piston holding shoe in expanded position.

Hey, thanks for the help. I talked to some guys on CB7tuner.com and they had the same issues. The brakes were just stuck closed. I WD-40'd them and hit them with a hammer and they broke free.
