Default CANT GET IN GEARRRRRR; 93civichatch. >=/

hey guys... i drive a 93 civic hatch and was wondering if you guys could tell me some possible "problems" thats going on with my car.....

sooooo. i started the car last night... tried to get it in gear and it wouldn't let me. i pressed on the clutch and it wasnt biting and had no pressure for crap.. a friend told me that the clutch is dead... another told me that its the slave cylinder? could you guys help me out a lil bit; i need to know if i need to buy a new clutch.. im ready to get one tomorrow, but i need to know if thats really the problem and the ONLY problem.

its really like throwing darts in a dark room unless the car is in front of me but if you can get someone to press on the clutch while you feel the shift fork to see if its moving and if it moves its more than likely a bad clutch. you can also unbolt the slave cylinder and again have someone press the clutch to make sure its moving.
there are too many different things it can be.
my suggestion is to get the new clutch kit cause it should come with a disk, PP and a throwout bearing. then if its still the same problem master and slave cylinder kits are not that expensive nor are they very difficult to install yourself

what do you mean 'not biting'? My clutch never bit me.

If it doesn't have pressure the first place you should look is in the master cylinder to make sure there is enough fluid. If there is, then your slave cylinder may not be working.

If there is pressure and the clutch pedal comes back to you but it still is hard to get into gear, you have have a broken clutch disc.

i think it could be ur clutch master cylinder. theres a reservoir next to your brake master reservoir that holds brake fluid. if its empty it could be causing ur slave cylinder to not engage. also this cold chicago weather makes the trans fluid really thick and a real pain to get into gear

lol i actually thought about my clutch reservoir while i was at work yesterday.. i was like shiiiiiiit, i didn't check before i got towed home. (the first thing i thought of was, fkc... my clutch is fkn goneeeee. ) so when i got home yesterday... i checked and its completely empty!! i felt stupid.

there has to be a reason it is empty so check under your dash and on the firewall where the MC is for leaks too

Now just need to see where it's leaking from. Can you tell if the fluid is leaking out of the master cylinder? Make sure the slave cylinder is still good also. It's kinda cold to do it now, I hope it's not your daily.
