Default jdm digital climate control in 2000?

anyone have any idea if or how the jdm digital climate control can work in a usdm model? the jdm one is all electronic while the usdm one uses a cable and lever to adjust from hea to ac, im wondering if maybe the jdm one uses the same harnesses and just has some extra pins or something that the usdm one is missing. will it be plug and play or will it work at all? thanks for any help or suggestions.

From the looks of the unit, I think it needs a different harness. I'm sure someone here has done the conversion, perhaps they can answer this question?

I know the Conversion has been done on a USDM 5thGen, but I don't know anyone that has done it. I also do not know of any write-ups for the 5thGen Unit.

I know many have done the 4thGen DCC Conversion and have had it fully functional.
All the info you need for a 4thGen is here:

I have a 4thGen and a 5thGen DCC Setup for sell also if anyone's interested..

I just don't know why people bother with things like this. My friend attempted it on his 4th gen and nothing ever worked right again......

i just bought a dcc for my 5th gen from ebay and im more then sure i can get it to work right.. because i dont have a/c i can just make it work for the heat and get the temp sensor from a tl.... im pretty decent with wiring and i cant see it being that difficult. specially since it only cost me 40 bux u cant go wrong.....

btw anyone know where i can find a wiring diagram for a usdm harness and the jdm harness??

there is a ton of sensors you will need to get it to work correctly.

You are correct the air mixture control is done by a servo motor which is designed for a RHD. So you have to fix it to work in reverse for the LHD.

I would look for the tutorials. alot of wiring needs to be done. internal and external sensors. and the dash needs to be cut to install the sensors. The entire dash needs to come out .

Good luck. it has been done many times before. P.S. your defrosting action will not work as well without a/c.

Sensors include
Exterior Temp Sensor
Interior Temp Sensor
Sunlight Sensor
sensor that goes in heater box

Parts
air mixture servo
heater valve (engine bay water flow)

Here's 4thGen Write-Ups, I don't know if they'll help..

And here's pictures of a more complete DCC Converstion "Kit" that I have.

If you have just the control unit, you're not going to get very far with it..
I wish people would stop selling them and stating they'll work without anything else.

Good luck though..

It's not just JDM, it's EDM as well I'm glad my RHD front clip came with one along with all the wiring to make it work

your friend messed up his wiring somewhere

I've had mine fully functional for over 2 years now
cost me $150.....not sure i would have shelled out the extra cash for the "plug-n-play" units they are selling now, but it was worth it for what i spent.....and a good learning experience too

just make sure you allow for plenty of downtime to work through everything

There are definitely people who have done the conversion on 5th gen's. I'm interested in doing it as well, but it's not a high priority right now unfortunately. If you're going to get one off eBay, wait for people who sell the entire kit with sensors & servo's etc; as others have mentioned, it takes a lot more than just the DCC unit. Does anyone know where to get manuals for JDM cars? I'm interested in a couple other things as well (like the Active ABS from the Type S)...

Wow. This does not seem worth it at all. Someone is selling just the unit locally for $20, but this seems like too much work.
