my new bike / project
Whats up guys i figured id share what i picked up a few weeks ago.
This would be my second bike and my first vtwin. My first bike was an 04 f4i. I loved it but sold it in may 07. Since the day i sold it i regretted it and was in the market for a bike ever since. My mechanic told me to get an sv everytime i spoke to him but i never really considered it.
Finally this past december, i had a couple grand and was really itching to ride. I went on craigslist and searched for a couple sv's and found this one for 1900 with gear. I figured now would be the time to pick up an sv and see what the fuss is all about.
After owning it a few weeks i can honestly say i have no regrets. The lack of a fairing was annoying at first but i got used to it quickly. The vtwin provides so much useable power. I love this bike. I will probably always own a vtwin from now on too.
Since I plan on keeping this bike for a while, i am planning on making it a long term project.
Here are some pics. It is a blue 2000
These pictures are from a skillzdays event that i went to to improve rider technique.

The bike came with a yoshimura trs exhaust that is pretty banged up from a low side but im gonna replace it eventually.
As far as problems go, the bike has a torn seat, banged up exhaust and oil leak. I purchased a complete top end gasket kit from suzuki and will be taking apart the bike this week to do a top end rebuild and fix the oil leak. The seat just needs to be reupholstered.
I also picked up a pair of pazzo shorty levers and attack performance adjustable rearsets which i will be installing this week. I also got a 2nd gen belly pan from honda guru (should be arriving tomorrow) that i am going to try to fit. I have also purchased an f3 wheel. Eventually i am going to try to pick up a holeshot highmount slip on and a solo seat cowl from revsperformance.
I took off the ugly stock mirrors and now have a bar end mirror (not pictured)
Hopefully by march or april this bike will be looking much better than it does now. Anyways that is the end of my intro. I will be updating with parts that i get.
What do you guys think?

yep, no problem though, the motor is at 28000 miles and i wanna take apart the top end to check the valves anyways so i might as well replace all the gaskets while im at it.
the oil only leaks when the bike is running so my guess is its coming from the top headgasket and no where else.

If you've got the topend apart, you could think about swapping some newer SV cams in there to up the power a little. I'll see if I can find a write up for you.
Nice bike btw

Are those Sidi Doha boots? How do you like them? I've been wanting on getting something more "daily" compared to my Sidi Stradas, and I've been looking on the Dohas.

Nice to know, seems like it's exactly what I'm looking for commuting to college. What about shifter and brake feel?
I love my Sidis
