Thermal exhausts on H-T for $500-ish shipped 3 inch all the way back...

2.5 inch will work fine for sub 300HP civics -- upgrading to a 3 inch exhaust beforehand will just make the car noisier and have SLIGHTLY better performance -- nothing to write home about though.

The lose? You mean "the loss"? I'm not implying really, that a 2.5 inch exhaust would inhibit a turbo'd civic/del sol -- before 300hp that is. I have a 260HP turbo civic and 2.5 inch all the way back with a test pipe works fine for me, but you're right -- it's up to each individual to choose what they want for their car.

Whatever 2.5-3" exhaust your mechanic makes for you.

Add a resonator or a muffler and you'll keep it quiet too.

And if you choose an exhaust shop with crush-bending only capabilities for bending exhaust piping, you want 3 inch, definately.. The crush bending will lessen the inner diameter of the piping at the bends and such.

when we built our ls turbo we used 3 inch to autozone 3 inch res with a 3 inch magnaflow super turbo muffler, and it sounds so deep and nasty. and its not loud at all till boost hits and the open dump starts to roar! we had mebbe 60 bucks in the whole exhaust

I can't recommend the ws cuz the pipe diameter is somewhere in the 2.2-2.3 range. I wouldn't go any smaller than 2.5 and if you plan on pushing more hp anytime soon save your self the trouble and go with 3 now rather than switching it out later.

Is there a wrieup with dyno sheet, where they compare the same car/setup, but change between 2.5 and 3 inches exhaust, and look at the HP differences?

I'll bump this instead of making my own thread

Are generic magnaflow mufflers only good to a certain HP level before they become restrictive? I current have 2.5" piping with 2 resonators to magnaflow exhaust. I want 3" straight back to magnaflow exhaust but my exhaust shop said the kind i have is only good to about 200HP, need to upgrade after that. Is he trying to screw me for more money?

I want magnaflow because I want to keep the same style I have
