Default HELP my D15Z1 SOHC VTEC-E sputters???????

I just bought a 94 civic hb with 108k and I have a problem it almost feels like it is misfiring or bogging out but this only happens at low rpms. I replaced the plugs, wires, cap, rotor, coil I also cleaned the throttle body out. What could this be is there a throttle posotion sensor because it feels like it only happens light throttle at low rpms.

Try sea-foaming it, it may just have some build up somewhere in it.

You can get it "sea foam" at your local parts store. It a liquid you pour in the motor via the vacuum line that goes to your brake booster. It just clean the build up that creates over time and things. I say do it b/c its a lot cheaper than alt. (if thats even what it is), and it never hurts.

I bet this is the problem, would this cause the car to sputter??? I was thinking it was the alternator.

Well, if its bad, it will cause it to run somewhat bad, and your mpg's will go down also.

a vacuum leak doesn't exactly mean that a hard part (like an exhaust manifold) is cracked or has a hole in it. your vacuum lines may have a hole in them that isn't visible. take a can of carb cleaner and spray your vacuum lines while the car is running and see if you see any air bubbles. if you still can't pinpoint the problem, bring it to a mechanic, explain the situation and let them fix it. its hard to diagnose a problem over the internet.

ive not personally worked on that particular engine but i would imagine like most of those years the ignitor ispart of the dizzy.. new dizzy.. prob round $200-250ish.. disconnect spark plug wires (note where they were on dizzy).. 3 bolts hold it on.. replace.. then do in reverse. its really easy.. if you have a ahynes manual it explains it fairley well. timing is the only hard part if you havnt ever done it.. but even then only take a few minutes to figure out how it works with the timing light..

i also have a d15z1 in my civic vx and it does the same thing. i ve noticed that it does it only at low rpms( before vtech engages at 3k) and im at wot except in 1st. i think that the problem has some thing to do with the vtech-e system or timing because as soon as i hit 3 it stops right away. also i noticed that it does it also if i let out the clutch to fast. i dont think that this problem is related to the charging system. does ur car sputter only at wot or during all rpm ranges?
