Need help on installing Koni Yellows/06-DC5
A freind and I are going to install a set of Koni yellows on my 06 RSX. I have searched Club RSX and honda-tech for a DIY or anyhelpful info on trying to put them on and have found nothing. I am wondering because it looks like top of the strut tower has to be cut.

Cut? Definitely don't cut anything! The struts just need to be unbolted.

Don't listen to this guy.
U have to cut the top of the strut because the koni yellow is a strut insert. U also have to drill a hole in the bottom as well to bolt it in there.

My mistake, why do they make you do that? That's pretty beat if you have to cut ****, just to put a strut in

They make it as a strut insert so its cheaper.

I have koni in my 02 rsx. Had to cut the top just like you though you did. I then pulled out the strut and replaced it with the new one. Honda makes you do this for some reason unless your doing coilovers. Suck I know but its necessary. Also you will probably have to drill a hole in the bottom to release the pressure of the strut. Thats what I had to do to mine. good luck.
Koni provides decent directions for the front strut modification. Did you not get the paperwork?
FWIW, Koni does this method on a lot of strut applications.

Make sure your carefully with your koni's. They blow out so easy especially if your slammed. I have blown a couple of front koni's now. Well worth it but they blow out easy. And yes your have to cut the top of the strut off and drill a hole in the bottom to screw the koni in.
