Okay, i know this has been covered before in here before but for some reason the search button isn't working for me.
I'm trying to register a Civic in California from Japan. I know most of you will hate for this but i'm getting a deal on the vehicle. I get the car shipped to my doorstep (in running condition) for $800. I'm just wondering if anyone has ideas on fee's for registering the vehicle here. Please only reply if you have delt with the situation yourself, or have a link for me. I don't want any "my friends sisters boyfriend did it this one time." Like i said, i know this has been covered in here and it became a "F*ck JDM" online battle. I do not want that from this. Just simple information. If the price wasn't this low i wouldn't consider it, but also if the price of the fees are more than it's worth, i wont do it. Just looking for simple answers.
Thanks in advance.

I know you're not going to like this and you might flame me for it... but...
If I were you I would really rely more on information from the Department of Motor Vehicles instead of a bunch of random people from all over the world who have probably never even dealt with the problem you're having trouble with. You're bound to get more reliable information by contacting the authorities.

Check the local MVD, like said. But personally, I know Cali is a bitch with emmisions and whatnot. Know anyone in a neighboring state? Here in AZ, RHD cars are pretty easy to register.
You may have to register it out of state, or do it as a race/show only vehicle which limits you to 500 miles a year on the odometer. PM me about more info on the race/show only situation.

doubt it, i know this guy extremely well and he is the owner of a business in sacramento. he only works with one person out of japan. i wouldn't do this if there was any doubt in my mind that the vehicle is legit.
