quick question: oil splash guard needed??

Default quick question: oil splash guard needed??

i'm having the shop install my block and they said that i'm missing one of them, or is there 2 of them? is it neccessary to put them in? this is for a h22 block . thanks

what exactly do you mean? do you mean the windage tray? if so then yes it is needed.

i think he means on the bottom of the engine, just inside the oil pan. i would think it'd be a good thing to have. necessary? i'm not sure.

That would be the windage tray wouldn't it? You definately want to keep that in so the oil doesn't splash up onto the crank.

There are two guards that bolt into the block that direct oil that drains from the head into the pan away from the crank. It's not the windage tray.

Part numbers 11 & 12:


One shield is only $6 and all 4 bolts would be less than $4. Don't be such a cheap ***. Do the job right, and buy the missing shield.

i found them.

what is the part # 25, 26, and 27. they are desribed as metal 1, 2, and 3 on hondaautomotiveparts.com (http://www.hondaautomotivepart...L+PAN) and list as part # 18, 19, 20. they seem to go somewhere aroung the 2 balancer shafts but i don't have them or remember seeing them.

what site is that? it seems to have clearer diagrams.
