Default My first autox

Oh no, what have i started.
I had a blast. i thought going in a straight line was fun...
this was great. i got out of the car after my first run and well, i felt the adrenaline still pumping through me. i shaved 2 seconds off each run (only gave us 3 runs )
other comparable cars were running a little slower than i was (except my friends gsr, beat me by 2 10th's.)
well ive now popped my cherry. im in trouble. i dont have money for another addiction.
anyone know when the next HPDE event at firebird (phoenix az) is? they just list the 22nd as the last one.

Welcome to the club. Now plan on spending at least another $1000 to $2000 over the next year buying stuff for your weekend Auto-Xing!!! Your going to need a Tent, camp chairs, helmet (M2000), camp table, cooler, magnetic numbers, 2nd set of rims with Azenis or V700s, 2ton floor jack, torque wrench, dail tire psi guage, tire trailer, golf siza umbrella, 3 point harness, racing seat, upgraded brake bads, better shocks and springs and pair of wrestling shoes. So start saving now.

Not to jack your thread, but I drove my first 2 autoxs this past month. At the second I had the fastest raw novice time and there was much rejoycing. Autox is fun, but HPDEs are a lot more fun IMO.

You could just buy the things you NEED and worry about improving the driver before throwing car improvements into the mix... you get better faster that way.

I got 3 time only runs. It's just another group you get to run in-- don't count for anything but seat time is priceless (or $10 if you're counting )
I dropped almost a second from my timed runs to my TO's If I could only figure everything out sooner

Not exactly sure how I placed, but if it's anything like the rest of the season it'll be 1st. Noone else runs STX in Tucson The fact that I have competition in Pheonix is what makes it more fun IMHO.

I'll bet you were pushing wide in that back sweeper and found all the slippery chit toward the outside. You have to stay really close to the inside cones on those.

If you can make it up to Phx on 7/13, there's another night autox at Firebird. Still hot as ***** but at least the sun only beats down for the first hour or so Mucho fun.

Well road racing you can go over to road atlanta, I am not sure what is involved or when they run though.

As for autocrossing you can go to http://www.scco.org and find info on the atlanta scca group. or do a search on google for atl scca. They run down at turner field in the parking lots around there.

yeah its http://www.atl.scca.org read up on the soloII stuff they have their
i ran in the novice class, wasnt the only newbie
didnt see a lot of people with FI, there was one dude in an integra with a zex kit but i dont think he used it, the autocross is mad turns, theres no real straight area to use the nitrous, hanldin upgrades are what count.
come out and race, next event is july 14th its really a lot of fun. if you have any more questions let me know. im not an expert but i had a lto of questions before i went and now they are mostly answered
