Default Syn. Oil On Integra

I put Castrol 5W-30 Motor Oil in my Integra, and I mentioned something to a friend who works at a tire and lube place, and he said that it hurts a 4 Cylinder engine, is this true or not?
thanks

it doesnt hurt it. IMO, i would stick to the regular conventional oil though. 10w-30

especially if you have a higher mileage engine.

I think thats true also about the heacier weight oil. But the dealership here uses Synpower, so I'm gonna switch from Mobil1 to Synpower.

I've been using Mobil 1 5W/30 since '99, as have several of my friends. I also used to be an Asst. Mgr. at a Jiffy Lube and I disagree with your friend.

I can't even imagine what logic is behind that statement?

Four cylinders is not enough to use the additivies in the oil, and they burn the cylinder walls?

Synthetic oil works great in four bangers. Look into amsoil, its a great product.

Definately look into Amsoil I've been using it for two years. I just had my teg rebuilt at 143K to put in CTR pistons and the mechanic said everything looked good in the engine when he tore it down.
