first off, what class do you think I will end up in?
second, what mods should I be looking into pursuing to be competitive?

No carpet = EP I believe. Good luck. If you're building the car for Solo-II, you might want to look at the rules so you KNOW what class you're in.
engine swap AND no carpet. Modified. D-mod, i believe.
welcome to your competition

"you have just opened a door to another dimension...a dimension full of cars that weighed 700 lbs less than yours BEFORE they were modified. It is a place where people spend more money on tires in a season than your car is worth. You have entered...the D-Mod zone"

Put the carpet and any missing interior panels back, then you can run Street Modified.
Otherwise, you go to D Modified, where you can use true slicks, gut the car, and will be stuck competing against super light purpose built cars.

Engine swaps put you immediately into mod class. Stripping interior makes you illegal for street mod. Buying a rulebook would be at the top of my list if I were you. Info to get one should be at http://www.scca.org

Yeah I'd put the interior trim and carpet back in for SM where your going to have a better chance or doing okay and having your *** handed to you every event. Civic hatchs do well in SM is set up properly.
i say ignore everyone and just have fun with it...
if you're looking to be competitive... then heed their advice. I have a D-Mod CRX and i'm having a blast. I'm always about a full second to two seconds behind the number one guy, but, i have more fun... i also time trial the car as well...soooo..

i dont know about the others, but when i read the title, i figured he was building a car that was going to try to be very competitive in Solo II....guess i missed the point.
That car, with some better tires and a LSD, would be a lot of fun to drive, but i dont see it winning much on anything more than local/regional level.

yeah, i figured D-mod. oh well. i guess i've got my work cut out for me
KAAZ lsd is already installed in my GSR trans.
i didn't plan on anything more than local

it's a great kit. it's balanced very well. the car is neutral with very predictable over and under steer depending on entry/exit speed. i love it. i can't wait to really put it all thru some timed turns to see what i can pull off.
so far, i'm more than satisfied.

i only pulled the carpet because the old stuff was smelly/dirty/worn. so, if i pull the tar paper, and all the firewall sound deadening and then put a thin layer of carpet over it will that still qualify? actually, i guess i probably should just get the rule book.
