Default seatbelts

Does anyone know if you can change the automatic seatbelts in a DA to the regular shoulder strap out of........let's say a 95 teg? It is possible or am I stuck with the automatic seatbelts?

I'm sure that it is possible, but I would not recommend it due to safety. If I did do it, I would approach it this way.

1) Disable the DA seatbelt slide in the closed position.
2) Manufacture a bracket to plug into the slide that would serve as the upper seatbelt mount.
3) Mount the belt reel down low behind the trim., where the current lap belt attaches.
4) If necessary, change the lower buckle to accomodate the new belts.

Why do you want to do this?

i drive long distances frequently in my DA. I want to put in a center console over the e-brake handle to rest my arm on. (just how i like to drive, leaning on that side). I can't make one to fit becuase of the reels for the the automatic seatbelt. If I could swap out with the shoulder belt i would have room to fit something in there. Just an idea. But yeah what you said is what i was thinkin, i am going to the salvage yard this weekend to do some research.
