Default rattling noise at 3k rpms////////searched//////

ive searched all through the site and read all the heatshield threads but i still cant figure it out. i drive a 95 gsr, stock ex. mani, stock exhaust b-pipe, stock cat. ive taken off every heat shield on the exhaust system (even the one on the back of the manifold) and there is still a rattle coming from the ex. manifold flange/cat flange area near the oil pan at 3k rpms. ive had some one rev the car to 3k already and pryed the manifold away from the oil pan as best(and carefully) i could to make sure it wasnt rubbing the oil pan. before when i had my jdm 4-1 header and test pipe it didnt rattle at all but now that i went back to stock the rattle is back. any ideas please the rattle is driving me crazy!!!!!!! thanks

lift up the car and shake the whole exhaust system with your hands and listen where the noise is coming from. this is how i figured why mine rattled, but it was just a heat shield hitting converter

its most common for your exhaust to rattle, could b your old stock cat that is busted all in side. My cars cat has little rocks stuck between the cat and the heat shield so check that out could be heat shield.

weird.. i have the same problem but mine started after i installed my jdm 4-1 headers and t1r catback. i kept the stock cat and i lifted the car and heard where it comes from.. it comes from the flange between your cat and headers. yeah it gets annoying at times. but im guessing that i might have a bad cat so who knows.

if anyone here knows what a TSB is, then there is one out for this. the exhaust A-pipe is known to rattle between 3-5000 rpms.

technical service bulliten(sp?). so in other words the lower half of the stock exhuast manifold is known to rattle. is there a logical reason for this? maybe there should be a gasket of some kind between the two?
