Default Sup Fellow DA's...Problem here...

Hey guys,
I know i know...every week there is another catastrophe that you hear from me, but thats a Honda for ya...ok new problem and I need yous guys expertise! Driving up the road last night and my car shuts off...no bang, no pop, nothing like that...it just shut off, so i pulled over...i let it sit, then tried to restart...it cranks over but it doesnt stay started...it ends up idling ridiculously low and stalls within a second...sometimes it wont start and just backfires like crazy...happened to me once before and it was the ignition rotor, but that was just replaced a year ago! Some people feel it may be the timing belt, but somehow i feel something more dramatic would have happened if i was driving in 3rd gear around 4 grand...no clue wth is going on...its at my mechanic but i wanna get a heads up just so i might know what to suspect...any ideas?

if its not your timing belt then it could be your alternator... when my friends alternator went it had similar symptoms as your having... low idle and no matter how much you rev'd the car would shut off and stay off...

also from my experience check your fuel pump it may need to be replaced... if its none of the above let us know what the final verdict was...

good luck

Get something hard like a tyre iron and smack the dizzy and/or the alternator. This has happened to me and thats all it needed (twice... once the dizzy then the alternator) Sometimes the bushes get a bit worn out and all it needs is a good crack to shake it up and clean the contacts. See if that works....

i had this same problem, not with a DA but with my cb7 accord, it defiantly has something to do with the dizzy, my problem was a bad ignition coil pack, you can have those tested for free at auto zone and they are not very expensive, actually if that is your problem and you need a new one im pretty sure i have a brand new one laying around i would have to look for it,
GL though
