Default D16A6 wont start plz help

Hello, i was driving on the road going about 30 mph and was in the middle of shifting when my car died. I thought I stalled so i tried to turn my car back on but it wont start. I towed it home and found out when i try to turn my car on the cam gear wont turn. The timing belt looks fine on the top but i cant see on the bottom. The starter works and it is getting fuel so i dont know what is wrong. Please help me out. Thank you.

if the motor is turning over while you crank it, then there is definitely something wrong with the timing belt functioning correctly.

otherwise maybe the starter isn't engaging?

please give some more details

Bottom line-If you are cranking the engine and the engine is in fact spinning but the cam isn't, the timing belt has snapped/broke or your tensioner is no longer putting enough tension on the belt.

ya it sounds like a timing belt problem you could have snapped it or spun it off. DONT try to turn the motor over you might bend a valve.... check your timing belt to see if its still on the crank/tensioner

Hard to say without being there but one of three things is happening:

1. Compression-just keep turning the crank
2. You're in gear-put it in neutral and try again
3. Belt is snapped with a valve open and a piston is hitting the valve causing the crank to stop spinning

When you moved the crank [a little] did the camgear move accordingly? Or did it stay put?

When i moved the crank the cam did move accordingly. when i try to start the engine it makes a ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ noise if that helps. also when i try to turn the engine on, the bottom of the timing belt by the crank seems like it is trying to move but it wont turn. i got some people to check it out and they said it could be a bent valve or timing is messed up but they are not 100% sure.

Sounds like the starter motor is skipping on the flywheel.

That could be to a seized engine. Especially if you can't turn the engine over by hand. When you were moving it by hand you had the car in neutral right? It shouldn't be the easiest thing to do, but it's definitely achievable. It'd be good to be able to get the engine to TDC to see if the belt has jumped.

the car was in neutral when i moved it by hand. for the timing belt, when I put pressure on it to see if it is loose, it is loose about 1/4 inch so im not sure if that would make a difference. thanx a lot for every ones help i am going to pull off the tranny and hope its the flywheel.

alright i pulled off the starter and tried to turn the crank by hand and everything turns fine and easily with the starter off. the cam gear turns the timing belt turns the flywheel turns everything turns so im thinking it could be something wrong with the starter. if you guys think it could be something else please let me know. Thanx alot.

Nope, sounds like you've narrowed it down.

ok i put in a new starter and it still wont start. it makes the same zzzzzzzzzzzzz noise so i tried to turn the crank by hand and everything turned accordingly so i experimented by putting the old starter back in to see if it would turn, so i tried turning it by hand and it does turn by hand now too. could i have bent valves or my could my block be messed up?

Try removing the starter and leave it off. Have a friend spin the motor by hand and while he/she is doing that, look into the starter mounting portion of the tranny. You should be able to see the flywheel teeth. As the motor is rotating, check to see if all the teeth are intact or if there is any abnormal wear.
