Default so i bent my steering rod

was racing a friend around town, and we were stopped at a stop light*.
i've done pretty much exactly this turn tons of times.
and and so i drop the clutch and floor it around a left turn at a light, and completely lose traction and hit the curb.
i slow down and pull into a parking lot a probably 50 feet after the turn with this horrible screeching of the tires and pull into the closest parking spot.

i scratched up the rim and bent the steering rod pretty bad.
atleast i didn't crash, i guess.

he dropped me off at my house, and im going to get it towed to the dealer tomorrow.
it will probably cost a few hundred $ that i don't want to spend.

I'll be honest with you, that was pretty retarded. Flooring it during a turn is always a terrible idea

Gotta love that understeer.

Sorry OP but that's a classic definition of driver error. All you had to do was let off the gas even just a little and your car would have grabbed instantly and you would have easily made the turn.

Do you know how to drive a car? Skipping gears, and now this? What's next? Drive your new car off a cliff? C'mon, man. Use your brain. Please. Perhaps you will learn to appreciate your car when you pay for it out of your own pocket, not your parents, with the money you earn. Threads describing how people treat their car like **** make me want to puke.

i know it was very dumb

but i have made turns atleast identical to that atleast 5 or 6 times and lost traction but the car grabbed eventually

im not completely sure but when i've done it before, it was turning into a 4 lane road
and i think this time was turning into a 3 lane road, so i hit the a curb when i usually would have another lane to gain traction in.

i learned my lesson though, and i am done screwing around.

A real driver would fix that **** himself not take it to a dealer. Im not even 21 yet man and I dont drive like that for the simple facts of insurance and pedestrians.

Why can't he take it to the dealer? If he can't do the repairs himself then of course he'd either have to take it to the dealer or another shop to get it fixed.

How old are you because you sound really young & dumb if you said you've done the same maneuver quite a few times prior. Lesson learned I guess. STOP STREET RACING & DRIVING LIKE A DUMBASS!

you're confusing "driver" with "mechanic"

80% of people on Honda-Tech that stick around are either self-taught mechanics or very experienced ones.

how does that make a "real-driver" a mechanic?

btw. I've been working on cars most of your life

Swap out the si front sway bar for an LX and get a more aggressive alignment.
