my 94 rs wont go into gear i have to start it in gear, and it is very hard to shift, and when i get out it smells like my clutch. could this be my whole clutch

Its something to do with your clutch it might just be a broken throw out bearing but its probably the whole clutch. Either way your going to have to take off the tranny and pull out the clutch so just do that and inspect everything and you can answer your own question.
