Does anyone know whats the average price to remove tint?
Does anyone know whats the average price to remove tint? I haven't gone to a window/tint shop yet, I wanna see how much it might cost to remove my stupid purple tint.
yeah do it your self its not that hard. only thing is that there is a special way to do the rear window because of the defroster. if you pull the tint off the rear window you will permantly damage the defroster.

depends on the shop and their technique of removing the film. a shop that is good and has the right tools will charge anywhere from $50 to $100 per hour and can probably remove the film without damaging the defroster or any thing else on the glass. You also will find shops that might charger you a flat rate of $40 to $80 but usually they just rip the film of and scrape the glue and possibly damage ti glass and defrost lines.

Needs to be done on a hot sunny day.
You spray the inside of the window with a dish soap and water solution. Place a garbage bag on the wet tint, completely covering it. Let it sit in the sun with the hatch closed for about a half hour. Take the bag off and repeat the process, respraying the tint with soap and water, and recovering with the garbage bag. You will feel the window getting SUPER hot. It steams the glue back up, and when you take the bag off and peel away the tint, the glue comes off entirely with the tint.
You can do this with any tinted window, but its perfect for the rear because you salvage the defroster lines.

if you are going to use the garbage bag i recommend using ammonia, it will break the glue down quicker and more efficiently.
