u most likly have a d16y7 and if its a d16y8 u have vtec witch is from si or ex, those are sohc motors if its a dohc its probly a b, h, k, series and its pretty easy to tell if its a dohc be the size and shape of the valve cover

D just means a family of engines. There are single cam Ds and there's a dual cam D.

You have the single cam non vtec version.

B always means dual cam. the number after the letter tells the displacement. B16= dual cam VTEC 1.6l. You just kinda have to know which ones are VTEC. The B18Cs are VTEC. The B18A/Bs are not vtec. The letter, as in the "A" in B16A just tells the version of the engine. There's a B16A (JDM), a B16A2, B16A3, and B16B(JDM). The B16B is the CTR engine. JDM engines dont have a fifth digit. USDM motors do have a 5th digit. For example: the U.S. spec Si 160hp engine is a B16A2. The JDM 170HP OBD1 or OBD2 B16 is just a B16A. This applies for all popular dual cam JDM engines. They do not have a 5th digit.

K always means dual cam. Again, different letters and numbers = different versions and designations.

H is always dual cam.

F can be dual or single. Anything from a single slam accord motor to a dual cam S2000 motor falls under the F family. If it has a C as the 4th digit, it's a dual cam from an S2000. Otherwise, it's from an accord.

That pretty much covers the popular 4 cylinder codes.
