Default My VTEC is not kicking in

I just bought a CIVIC 1999 EX with a D16y8. As i understand, this engine is SOHC VTEC, even the valve cover does not say so, and the VTEC kicks in at 5,400 rpm. I have gone to 6,000 rpm and i dont notice the different.
Would it be that my engine is working too good, that the kick is really smooth, i´ve heard that too.

Thanks for yr help.

1. just because your valve cover doesnt say so, doesnt mean you dont have vtec.
2. its a d series, you can barely hear the difference with an intake. if its stock, even less so if any. (not very noticable powerwise)
3. vtec kicks in at around 4,500 i think, i cant recall, its been a while since I had my civic.
4. that last line was retarded.
5. is your name really Mr.Fuji or do you just think its cool?

I'm speechless.

I don't even have Vtak and I'm proud to be able to tell stupid rednecks I don't have it.

You'll never notice it in a D-series unless you have a loud *** intake.

you can't hear vtec in sohc, you can kinda tell in a DOHC, but sohc no way. When i had my em2 i couldn't hear vtec eventhough it said in VTEC on my valve cover.

haha, if u notice your VTEC in your SOHC stock, there's definitely something wrong with your engine.

fyi for anyone with vtec - YOU CANT FEEL IT

my y8 I could hear crossover because I knew it in my own car and got used to it, to anyone else, its just an extra noise that sounds normal.

Swap the blinker fluid with the VTec fluid; sometimes Honda gets them mixed up.

Sorry but I can clearly tell when vtec engages in my B. But 2.5 inch straight pipe no cat and shitty muffler does help that a bit.

WaaaaaaaaaWWWWWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA.

Vtec rocks.
